Is David Bowie with a Kitten on his head

your argument is invalid
We are playing THIS Friday so if you are in the Bay area you should get your butt over to Oakland.

Hexenfest offers an evening of entertainment and revelry based on magick and a dark sensual aesthetic --both visual and aural-- at the Oakland Metro performing arts venue on 630 Third Street, in Oakland, CA 94607, on Friday night March 9th, 2012.

Doors at 8pm, show at 9pm, cover is $20. Costumes are encouraged, and advance tickets are available at http://www.indiegogo.com/HexenFest?a=416878

The all-ages event is introduced by MC and DJ Jason Pitzl-Waters from the A Darker Shade of Pagan podcast, and also features live music by Pandemonaeon and RaZor Skyline, a dark fashion show by Tombo Studio, and bellydance performances by Morpheus and Anaar.

Pandemonaeon’s tribal rock sound ( http://www.pandemonaeon.net/) has been described as “dark tribal fusion with powerful vocals and metal accents” and “music for bellydancers in combat boots.”

Goth rock/industrial band RaZor Skyline (http://www.reverbnation.com/therazorskyline ) features darkwave textures, gothic melodies, hard guitars and driving middle eastern beats.

Tombo Studio (http://www.tombostudio.com/) produces exotic fashion “for a new belle époque,” which will be showcased on stage & at several similarly themed vendor booths at the venue.

Jason Pitzl-Waters is the creator of The Wild Hunt blog http://www.patheos.com/blogs/wildhunt/ ) and the weekly music podcast A Darker Shade of Pagan (http://www.adarkershadeofpagan.com/)

so last night my thighs decided to get covered in hives

they were not too itchy - unless I accidently rubbed them

this morning they are still flared (even after 50 mg of benedryl last night) and I am going to lay off the wheat products again

who really knows if wheat is the cause, as it isn't an instant reaction

in fact who knows WHAT really is the cause

but wheat seems to be the most logical as I have been indulging in it since the holidays - not massive quantities mind you, but still - it has been more in my diet than before and I have not had a flare like this for a long time

I think it is sort of a cumulative sort of thing. I can have small amounts without too much issue and then I keep having small amounts and then BLAM - itchy evil hives

and really it is better for my body as a whole to limit the stuff.

it's all an experiment tho so we shall see what happens

(and we are trying to generate some buzz)

we will also have the song available for free download starting tomorrow.

not sure what is up but while I am not getting as MUCH sleep as I want, the sleep I AM getting is better. Plus I am getting at least 6 hours, and considering I used to think that getting 5 was good, this is a VERY good thing.

picked up some crochet again. a friend who is expecting twins to come into his life sooner rather than later is the perfect excuse to create a couple blankets - AND I have lots of yarn in one of the colors that is being used so I can clean out some of my stash (which will make the hubby happy)

got a crazy idea last night for dinner. we had some of TJs green curry simmer sauce that needed using (and well hell, it makes like SO much easier) but instead of rice as a side, I made coconut quinoa (as a take on coconut rice).

it was freaking awesome. and the slight sweet note from the coconut milk was the perfect compliment to the slight heat of the sauce. Plus, the leftover quinoa when heated up, tossed with some toasted nuts (coconut and almond) and dried fruit and splashed with a bit of coconut milk made for a very tasty and comforting breakfast.

for something completely different: a couple months ago, my SiL and I were walking along, and a guy, in a jaunty pork pie hat, stopped us and paid me a very nice compliment telling me I was beautiful. it was lovely, and I thanked him and we went on our way. I have seen him around a bit and he waved and complimented me again. then a couple weeks ago he stopped me while I was walking to the Alameda wine festival and said hello asked for my number so that we could 'hang out'. now my number is a precious thing and so I offered instead my email (plus, I HATE talking on the phone actually - I blame my years as a CSR and collections person). he grudgingly accepted. I sent him a note immediately as we live in the future (and the fact that I am a flake and would forget said email if I didn't do that immediately) and he responded with the request a couple days later to 'let's hang out'.

now to be honest, I was not quite sure of his intentions and while I occasionally like to flirt, it is fairly clear that I am a happily married woman. (there is this ring on my finger after all, plus I don't believe I was actively flirty with him) so I emailed him back asking him what exactly he was looking for? I was all about creating and developing new friendships, but if he was looking more that, well I hope that I didn't lead him on and I would still like to grab a cup of coffee of a drink sometime to 'hang out'

crickets

ahhh well...a response would have been nice, but what can you do...
but shelters are impart and special to me. I have volunteered for them and our big dumb (no really, he is) adorable orange boy came from one

Alameda Animal Shelter is going to close as the city feels that any needs can be met by near by towns. a: this is false as they are already overflowing, and b: as anyone knows, getting off island is often times challenging, so taking something like a stray over to a shelter in Oakland or san leandro? not going to happen that often. instead, the stray population will grow as animals are abandoned and not neutered, there will be more disease, and then death when they get hit by cars

so if you could please sign this over here I would appreciate it

thanks
